Following is a summary of some of the items that were considered at the September 18, 2019 qathet Regional District Board Meeting. This summary is being provided as part of our commitment to transparency. It is our belief that an informed and engaged community results in decisions that serve the common good.

Request for Financial Assistance – Powell River Creative Economy and Innovation Initiative
The Board approved a grant to the Powell River Creative Economy and Innovation Initiative toward costs associated with the development of operations and programming for the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development Program. Funds will be allocated from the following services:

Economic Development Service                 $4,286
Electoral Area B Grant-in-Aid Service             714
                                                                           $5,000

Housing Needs Assessment Grant Application
The Board directed staff to partner with the City of Powell River to apply for a $60,000 UBCM Housing Needs Assessment Grant to complete a Regional Housing Needs Assessment Report in 2020.

Myrtle Creek Cycling/Pedestrian Bridge
The Board approved the building of an aluminum truss bridge designed by StoneCroft Projects recreation trail network. The costs will be funded through the Regional Parks / Land Improvements.

The Board directed staff to apply for available grant money to fund the construction of the trail between Centennial Road and Butler Road.

Lasqueti Island Landfill Closure Site Assessment
The Board approved of single sourcing the Tetra Tech engineering team, with Michel Lefebvre acting as project manager, to conduct the Lasqueti Island Landfill Closure Site Assessment, based on Bylaw No. 454 Powell River Regional District Delegation of Purchasing Authority: Policy provision 1.4.13.13, for the quoted price of $51,180.

Strategic Plan
The Board adopted the 2019-2022 Strategic Plan.
