Regional Animal Shelter Service Establishment

The Powell River Regional District is considering establishing a new, region-wide service to help pay for the operating costs of an animal shelter that the SPCA will build, own and operate.

The service area (who is taxed) includes all of the City of Powell River and Electoral Areas A, B, C & D.

Before the service can be established, a majority of electors in each electoral area must consent. Electors in the City of Powell River are not voting on the bylaw as City Council will consent on their behalf. Electors in Areas A, B, C & D will have an opportunity to vote on the question on Saturday, July 17, 2010 More information is available from the links below:
