Cemetery Development Plan

The Regional District is planning some improvements to its cemeteries on Texada Island and Powell River (Cranberry). We plan to increase the options that people have to inter or memorialize family members and undertake other work to enhance the overall appearance of the cemeteries and make them more pleasing public spaces. The plan was developed with the able assistance of Eric Lees & Associates, Landscape Architects. Regional Board directors and staff are enthused about the planned improvements and we hope that the public will share that enthusiasm. Some of the photographs in the Plan and the presentation are from other cemeteries. They are only examples of some of the features planned for our cemeteries. The actual developments for Powell River and Texada Island will not necessarily be the same as what is shown in the photographs here.

The Regional District is proposing to implement most of the recommendations from the Plan in the next five years. Some development will take place over a longer term.
