The Planning Department provides land use planning services to Electoral Areas A, B, C and D of the Powell River Regional District. The City of Powell River has its own planning department and Electoral Area E (Lasqueti Island) receives its planning services from the Islands Trust.
The Planning Department provides information and guidance to the regional board, other government agencies, the development community and the public on land use and development. It also prepares official community plans, policies and bylaws intended to balance social, environmental and economic considerations and protect the character and quality of life for present and future generations.
In addition, under the direction of the planning committee and regional board, the Planning Department conducts research and provides advice on a wide range of planning related issues including growth trends, sustainability, green house gas emissions reduction and the riparian areas regulation.
Maps
Cadastral (legal lot) maps, house numbering maps and aerial imagery is available in ‘pdf’ format from the mapping section of our website. PRRD Online Mapping. If you are interested in other types of mapping or need digital files of our mapping, please contact the regional district office at 604 483-3231 (some fees apply).
House Numbers
The planning department assigns all house numbers in the electoral areas. If you do not know your house number, or if you are building and need a new house number, contact the regional district office at 604 483-3231.
Your house number should be placed in a visible location, where your driveway connects to the main road. A highly visible address is critical for provision of emergency services or if you need electrical and telephone connections.
