Regional district services are provided by a staff team that includes management personnel, unionized employees and facility caretakers working under contract. From time to time the regional district also advertises for consultants or contractors to submit tenders or proposals for special projects. Accounting Clerk II

The Powell River Regional District is looking for an accounting clerk to carry out all standard bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures in a busy public office.

Working under the Manager of Financial Services, the accounting clerk processes accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, general ledger, payroll, utility billing, revenues, banking, prepares for audit trial balance, produces customized reports and assists with budget preparations and general office and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for the position include a minimum of three years of experience in accounting procedures in a similar role; completion of CPA preparatory courses or equivalent education; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; proven organizational and communication skills (written, interpersonal and public relations); and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and to work under pressure. Training and/or experience in Vadim accounting software and in a regional district or other local government setting would be considered as assets.

This is a CUPE position. Wage is $29.12 per hour (10% less for 40 day probationary period). Work schedule is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Preferred start date is Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

The Powell River Regional District invites tenders from qualified contractors to perform works associated with its “active transportation” accommodations at its Savary Island Marine Service Wharf, Savary Island, British Columbia, including site preparation; bike racks, walkway, map structure and stairway; and upgrade of the existing wharf shed.
