Join the Department

If you have a desire to perform community service in the area of emergency response and are willing to work as part of a team, then join us. We are looking for people with a wide variety of interests and abilities: firefighting and first aid, vehicle and mechanical maintenance and repair, office management and building maintenance. The Lasqueti Island Volunteer Fire Department is dedicated to providing our team members with the training they need to meet the emergency response needs of our community.

Our fire fighter volunteers practice bi-weekly and our first responder volunteers meet and train monthly. Some of our members volunteer in both areas, but most choose one or the other due to the commitment level required. Currently our membership stands at 31 volunteers. We encourage new fire fighter recruits to join at any time. First responder recruits are brought in annually and must complete FR Level 3 training with a spinal endorsement (usually offered on Island in the fall or early winter). If you have any questions or wish to join our team, please call the Fire Chief at 250-240-4128.
